(Day 18) Kingtones Memoirs
February 23, 1964 ( Sunday)
I set my alarm so that I could get up and go to church. It was a rather chilly day outside, but the sun was out. I was going to walk to church today, because the Kingtones’ van was broke and Phil’s car was also out of commission. Major would not let me take his car. Fortunately, the church was only a half mile down the road.
After I left church, I stopped and bought a few groceries. When I got back to the apartment, I made breakfast. The boys were watching television. We had no plans that day, and since it was cool out, we weren’t going to the beach. This turned out to be a “TV Day!” TV in the morning, TV in the afternoon, and TV at supper time. For dinner, I prepared a delicious meal of hot dogs and beans.
My mother and dad had come to Florida, to go to my Uncle Neil’s funeral. They stopped by our apartment and offered to take us out for pizza. We had just finished eating and we were not hungry. But hey, you just don’t turn down free food! So we got a break from the TV set and went to have some pizza. They bought us two large pizzas. When we had finished eating, all of us were stuffed and felt kind of sick.
As my folks got ready to leave, I was feeling very sad; I didn’t want them to go. My mother could sense my sadness and decided to cheer me up with a little surprise. She said that in two weeks she and my father were going to return to Florida and bring my sister Lorraine and Chick with them. I couldn’t believe my ears! She was going to bring Chick!! I was so excided, I couldn’t stand it! I wanted to call her. I missed her so much and couldn’t wait until she arrived.
When we returned to the apartment, you could never have guessed what we decided to do. That’s right! We watched more TV! Yahoo! TV! We were all healthy and getting along fair.
