Jack J. Mapes, age 71, of Byron Township, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 16, 2013. Jack enjoyed playing the steel guitar with different country bands. He also loved hunting with his best friend, Jim Kautenberg, and fishing with his many friends at Blue Lake Resort in Sand Lake, where Jack was known as “The Rev”. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie; his sons, Lewis (Joan) Mapes, Ronald (Kathy) Mapes; grandchildren, Jessica, Stephen, and Easton; and a brother-in-law, James (Monica) Haldaman. The funeral service will be held 5 pm Tuesday, December 17, at Stroo Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Interment in Kent Memorial Gardens.
