I play various instruments starting with violin when I was around 7 or 8. I play with the Kent Philharmonic Orchestra here in Grand Rapids and have done so for nearly 30 years. I play bass and have done so in various capacities. I played in the jazz band (occasionally the baritone sax as well) at my high school (Comstock Park) for 3 years and in the jazz orchestras at Aquinas (Bruce Early), GRJC (Ray Gill), and Grand Valley (Dan Kovats). I played in various small wedding band type gigs and sat in with folks such as River City Jazz and Triple Play (this is all late 70’s early 80’s). I played bass on the road with The Larry Ballard Band with Jerry “Deacon’ Davis, Ed Dildine, and Ron Lawrence. More recently I slapped an upright bass for a few years with a band I co-founded called the Chupa Cobras, and currently play a ridiculously cool/fun Prog. Rock project called Comments of Aether. With this group (we play old King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Gentle Giant, Pink Floyd, etc) I play a 12/4 double-neck guitar, 4 and 5 string basses, Taurus Bass pedals, bouzouki, along with some vocal work. I am fortunate to play with some wonderfully talented people in this project and they are Kent Lavengood, Nic Stubbs, Ann Wharton, and James Paauwe.

Getting ready for the show Saturday, which entails doing a complete setup run of the gear. It's a rather complicated setup and everything needs to be tested and retested (yes folks, there's more to what we do than walking up and playing some songs for a few hours). After rigging it...it sounded horrible. The cab (a fEARfui F115) sounded terrible. I sent a facebook message to David Homer and within minutes he sent a response. Based on my description (and video) he suspected it may have been the 15" gone bad. I explained I had a major show Saturday and he stepped right up. He had a couple options for me on the spot. It turns out is was my fault. I had to reconfigure the mixing board I use for all of my instruments. Problems with some gain levels and FX sends. When done, the walls cracked from the Taurus III's and I'm sure the cops are on the way. So, first of all Official fEARful BAss Enclosures are monstrously good kit. Nothing sounds like them. Second, David Homer it to be appreciated for his quality work and outstanding support for the gear and the fEARFUL / bass community. Thanks David.
