Joe Collins

I had two very musical parents. Mom was in the Mason-Howell Chapter of Sweet Adeline’s Barbershop Chorus and Dad played guitar in a very popular rock/country band in the Lansing area in the late 70’s early 80’s. I started singing and plucking out songs on the organ when I was three, got a drum set when I was 8 and picked up the guitar when I was 14. My gear includes MIM Strat with a JB in the bridge, LTD ec-256 with Alnico II Pro Slash pickups, (love love love this guitar) and a Schecter Hellraiser Solo 6 and for an amp I use a Carvin Legacy VL100 played through a Peavey 412 that was originally paired with a Peavey Supreme 160. I’m in a rock cover band from Greenville called Shotglass Resin… (not a big fan of the name but I’m the new guy in the group…. what can ya do?) What’s in a name anyway? …..

I play because it’s a stress reliever for me. The music I’m playing now in my band is classic/new rock with some originals that are on the heavier side of rock. However, my first love is Blues. I lean towards the modern blues style like Joe Bonamassa if I’m listening to music but my playing style is more heavy handed and kinda sloppy, if you will.
