Joe Lach Joe began playing guitar at age 11 in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he was born and raised. He was influenced by most of the popular genre’s of music that stemmed from the early 50’s to the late 70’s. In his early-teens he discovered Joe Pass, John McLaughlin, and Andreas Segovia. Early in his career, Lach worked as a guitar instructor, and some of his former students have achieved fame with their stellar guitar skills. He has been a driving force behind other musicians throughout his career, a solo performer, as well as performing in temporary positions with other musicians and a session guitarist for recording studio’s throughout the U.S. that have employed him for albums and radio jingles. Lach is widely known for his shredding with high frequency feedback and slow pretty melodic guitar work. Joe Lach’s approach to the guitar involves several distinctive components including the innovative use of two-handed tapping, natural and artificial harmonics, sweep picking, finger-picking, Travis picking and chicken picking. His innovative style of using string-benders and string drops is to say the least mesmerizing.
He is however, better known to many as a Rock/Country/R&B singer. Lach is an accomplished scat singer, often developing intricate melodic voice phrases alongside his guitar, accurately parallelling it in pitch, accent, tempo, and syncopation.
