Around 11 p.m. Johnny would play a series of slow songs including Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” and Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page.” He would then go into his oldies sequence starting with “At the Hop” by Danny and the Juniors. The evening would always end with Elvis Presley’s “If I can Dream,” followed by Johnny saying “See yeah!”

Posted from a Facebook thread about Johnny’s Bandstand by David Homer. Johnny passed away a little over a year ago. The club is open under new management. I had the opportunity to play there a few times.. Best venue bar none.. The band would take the whole day to get up there, set up, grab some dinner.. Hopefully the new owners retain what made that place so neat…

I’m sorry to say I’ve been informed that my uncle,
Johnny Urban is in failing health. Lets keep him in our
prayers. We are losing a Legend!

Our Band the Boyfriends played Johnny’s many times in the late sixties.
Always had a huge crowd of teenagers back then. Johnny would fly his plane over the beach in Ludington with a speaker announcing who was playing that weekend or night, trying to get the beach crowd to come down to the club. He must have throttled the engine back or glided, because I call recall being able to hear what he was saying from the beach, without a problem. Had a great time there…

Hey Doug, i received a call from Johnny today. he had been in the hospital and was returning my call on the song. he says he played “if i could dream” by Elvis and also would play “wonderland by night” n sometimes he would play the flip side of this one. i thanked him for his call and all the great memories. mystery solved.
