Kirk Zillmer

Crusaders, Midnight Shadow, Dimensions, Cable Rock, Bad Manor, Double Barrell

Kirk Zillmer:  “When I was fourteen, I played at a battle of the bands with some high school buddies down at the Civic Auditorium. There were 50 bands and it was advertised in the G.R. Press. My first band, called the Crusaders changed our name to the Midnight Shadow for this event. I talked to Harry Lucas about this battle of the bands years later as I remembered seeing his band there. They were called The Muthers and Wayne VanDam played with them. I remembered that they played  “Carrie Ann” by the Hollies and they had really long hair for those times. Jeff Bulson’s group, Cupid and the Intrepids, won the battle.
