(Day 34) Kingtones Memoirs
March 10, 1964 (Tuesday)
I got up at 10:30 am. I was so tired I could hardly open my eyes. Chick and I were going to spend the day and evening together by ourselves. The Kingtones did not have to play at Porky’s on Tuesday as that was our night off. I called several car rental agencies to see how much I could rent a car for. Because I was under 25 years old, I was told I would have to pay an extra fee. Bob, always “trying to be helpful,” said I could rent his car for whatever the car rental agency would charge me, minus the extra fee. I rented Bob’s car.
It was another hot day, so Chick and I went to the beach. We ate all three meals out and went shopping. Meanwhile, back at the Kingtones’ apartment, the boys got up at 2:30 P.M. Cereal or peanut butter and jelly continued to be their meals of choice. After breakfast/lunch, Bob, Phil and Mike took Phil’s car to the Ford dealer, picked up the Kingtones’ van, and left Phil’s car there to get it fixed. Pete didn’t want to go. The van cost us $168.00 for the repairs. The boys then returned to the apartment for another day and night “TV Marathon.” We were all healthy and getting along satisfactory.
