The band is made up of Kalamazoo area professionals who donate their rehearsal and performance time to help our community. Drawing songs from America’s folk and gospel history and more current classic rock and alt-country music Smallmouth performances hearken back to traditional hootenanny and folk club shows of the past. Artists covered include Bob Dylan, Wilco, Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, Patsy Cline, Bruce Springsteen and John Prine.
The Smallmouth Band’s main mission is to support and provide music for non-profit fundraising events such as:
Tillers International Harvest Festival, Talons Out, Cheff Center, Marshall Relay for Life, St. Joseph Heritage Museum, Battle Creek Charitable Union, Kalamazoo Kares, SPCA and Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes.
The band has also supported and/or donated back to the Kalamazoo Farmer’s Market, Mendon Riverfest, Laborer’s Local 1191, Battle Creek Art Defied, Vicksburg Art & Hop Shop, Lunchtime Live in Bronson Park, South Haven Rotary Club, along with private fundraisers for a specific cause (i.e., help raise funds for medical bills).
