Wayne Waddell

Band X (Guitar) (RIP)

Wayne played in Band X for six months or so in ’69. He answered an ad that we placed in the GR and Detroit papers, because we needed someone in a hurry to cover bookings that we had. We used a booking agency from Flint, and had a lot of gigs on that side of the state as well as in the West Michigan area.

Although Waddell was his real name, he went by Wayne “Tex” Gabriel, and you will find a lot of info (including obit and remembrances) under that name. He may have legally changed it to that, I don’t know. I put that info in a post under his name. Thanks.

Jay Fortier says:

Wayne was from Detroit, and was also known as Wayne “Tex” Gabriel. He moved to NYC in the early 70?s, played with “Elephant’s Memory”, who became John Lennon’s back-up band for a while. He had a very respectable career recording and touring with many artists. It is well worth the time to google him and see all that he accomplished. He passed away in May, 2010. Rest in peace, Tex, and condolences to his family.
